HSL: Heaven as a Second Language
Because Truth Becomes a Lie if Meanings Are Wrong
Meanings matter! In fact, if our meanings are off, then what we believe is not accurate and we do not portray the Kingdom of Heaven with the precision intended. Listen to Jesus speak to His disciples in Mark 4:24:
And He said to them, Be careful what you are hearing. The measure [of thought and study] you give [to the truth you hear] will be the measure [of virtue and knowledge] that comes back to you—and more [besides] will be given to you who hear. (AMPC)
In any conversation, there are three things we can listen to: what was said, what we heard, or what was meant. HSL: Heaven as a Second Language is a book or, more accurately, a ‘dictionary’ of words we hear and use a lot in the Christian arena, but often our meanings are skewed with our own filters and worldly understanding. The intent of the Holy Spirit is to realign meanings with the heartbeat of the Father and how things operate in the Kingdom of Heaven. It is part of renewing the mind and getting a higher, eternal perspective. The adventure into His Kingdom is exhilarating, challenging, and full of wonder if you are ready to learn “all things new” (Revelation 21:5). Come discover the language of Heaven.
Three Things That Thwart Tranformation
If you are holding this book, chances are you desire significant and lasting change in one or more areas of your life, the life of someone you care about, or the world around you. How do you do that? Why does history repeat itself, both our personal histories and that of our societies? If all our best efforts at creating change seem to land us in the same place over and over again, then what is transformation, really?Transformation does not occur as the result of simply acquiring new information or insights. You must interact with and experience that information for growth and change to take place.
- Dig for the treasure inside.
- Allow your life to express your deepest gifts.
- Unearth what has been buried and long forgotten.
- Release your brilliance.
YADA, YADA, YADA...Why Should I Follow Jesus?
Yada, Yada, Yada! We use this phrase in our language today to express boredom for empty talk; when information is too dull or predictable to be worth repeating. We also use it when information is too lengthy or tedious to recite in full. The sense is, "We've heard it all before."
The bare-naked truth is we have heard a lot about following Jesus, but what is the point? Why should I, you, or anyone follow Jesus? This book unpacks this question with all its nuances. My only experience of the answer is my experience, and that is what I share. This is a real, personal and tangible expression of one lived-out answer to this question and the lessons I've learned along the way.

2 Timothy 2:21 (AMPC)
So whoever cleanses himself [from what is ignoble and unclean, who separates himself from contact with contaminating and corrupting influences] will [then himself] be a vessel set apart and useful for honorable and noble purposes, consecrated and profitable to the Master, fit and ready for any good work.

As you ask yourself questions you may have never considered before, you will learn who you are, how you became that person, and will realize the power inside of you to choose who you want to become.
What will you discover about yourself? Who will you find on these pages? What surprises are waiting for you?
*JUMBO is a compilation of Volumes 1-3.
Shh! God Is Speaking
Devotional for Hearing Truth in Everyday Life
Life is teeming all around us! It is speaking and teaching and demonstrating and imparting useful information, even presenting questions for us to consider. We are busy, distracted, and on auto-pilot much of the time. Have we become dull of hearing some of the deeper things we can learn from the very life happening all around us?
In this book, I share several short vignettes from my personal experiences – sort of my ‘wanderings and ponderings’ – what I was ‘hearing’ and the questions that arose from my interactions with the ‘life’ around me. I guess they are really little parables. Let's see what questions they pose for us!
